InPoint Systems: Managing Inventory from Manufacturer to Consumer
Partnerships in the industry

What makes Roll-Call™ different from other RFID systems?

Most RFID systems rely on passive tags that require you to actively seek out a tagged item about which you need information. These passive tags have to be fairly close -- less than a few meters -- to a reader to transmit a response, which means tagged items have to pass close by stationary portals or be scanned by hand with a portable reader.

Roll-Call, on the other hand, uses an active RFID system. Our tags have their own internal power source that allows them to communicate with readers over a much longer distance -- up to hundreds of meters -- meaning they can be integrated into your current inventory system without having to add steps to your workflow or bottlenecking the flow of inventory through a stationary portal.

The Roll-Call system improves security, too. Traditional RFID security systems can be bypassed by removing or cloaking the tag before passing by a security checkpoint. A Roll-Call tagged item immediately reports itself missing if its tag is removed or otherwise compromised.

Roll-Call™ offers your business these invaluable benefits

  • Reduce labor costs by eliminating the need for scheduled manual physical inventory.
  • Reduce inventory loss by continuously tracking the location of each item, raising an alert when an item is no longer detected or moved outside an authorized area, and reporting/logging the item's last known location.
  • Enable inventory control through on-demand reports on stocking levels and inventory status and movement.
  • Enable multi-site remote inventory taking and monitoring through network connectivity.
  • Improve responsiveness at the point of sale by providing easy access to current inventory information.
  • Manage inventory throughout the supply chain, from manufacturer to distribution to retail.

Items are equipped with a Micro Radio Tag (MRT™) 1 that constantly report their presence and location. The information is read by a series of networked, collaborative readers 2 and processed by advanced Roll-Call™ software on dedicated servers. 3 Roll-Call™ servers feed data to existing inventory, point-of-sale and alarm systems. 4
