Eitan Fenson, Ph.D., President and CEO
Dr. Fenson has been a technology leader at Bell Laboratories and in Silicon Valley for more than 25 years. Prior to founding InPoint, Dr. Fenson was CEO of PnP Networks, Inc., a networking research company. Technology developed by PnP for the federal government has been integrated into InPoint Systems' products. Prior to founding PnP Networks, he served as V.P. of Engineering and Operations for ViewCentral, Inc., a Web services company that he also co-founded. Before ViewCentral, Dr. Fenson spent more than ten years as a technologist and executive at several Silicon Valley firms. Prior to arriving in Silicon Valley in 1986, Dr. Fenson spent five years working on emerging software technologies at Bell Laboratories. Dr. Fenson received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan. He also holds Masters Degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Amherst College.
Michael C. Barlerin, Executive VP of Marketing
Mr. Barlerin has an extensive background in all areas of marketing, with a strong emphasis in both jewelry and retailing. Before establishing Michael Barlerin Associates, LLC in 2005, he held the position of Chief Executive World Gold Council, Americas for 16 years. Prior to joining the WGC, Mr. Barlerin held several senior marketing positions at the Dallas-based Zale Corporation, the world’s largest retail jeweler. While there, he was Senior Vice President, Marketing for the Zales division, Senior Vice President, Marketing for what is now the Bailey, Banks & Biddle division; and ultimately Senior Vice President for the multi-division Zale Corporation. His career in retailing also includes two years as President and COO of the 70-store retail optical chain, American Vision Centers. Mr. Barlerin is a member of the 24 Karat Club of New York and serves on the Board of the Jeweler Vigilance Committee. Mr. Barlerin gained his Bachelor of Science in Economics at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Rich Howard, Ph.D., VP and CTO
Dr. Howard is also a founder of InPoint Systems. Prior to InPoint, he was a founder and Senior Vice President of Technology at PnP Networks. Dr. Howard previously served as Vice President of Wireless Research at Bell Laboratories, where he was responsible for advanced work on the science and technology behind systems and applications used in cellular communications and the emerging wireless Internet. He has been deeply involved in machine learning, neural networks, integrated circuits, and issues of computing, communications and the Internet. Dr. Howard is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Physical Society. In 1985, he shared the Paul Rappaport Award from the IEEE. Dr. Howard has a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University, and a B.Sc. in Physics from Cal Tech.
Josh Scharf, VP/Business Development
Trained in architecture, product design and marketing, Mr. Scharf has worked internationally for some of the world’s most recognized companies and institutions. Among his credits are his position as Director of Exhibit Design at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; his design of galleries for the Dallas Museum and The Smithsonian; and his development of retail venues, products and marketing strategies for De Beers Diamonds, World Gold Council, Zales Jewelers, Hallmark Cards, Wal-Mart, Lenox Collections, The Franklin Mint, and The Walt Disney Company. He has worked extensively on the branding of diamonds and diamond jewelry, as well as the development of selling/training strategies for point-of-sale within the jewelry store environment. Mr. Scharf holds an MBA from The Stern School of Business/NYU. He also holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Industrial Design from The Pratt Institute.
Giovanni Vannucci, VP/Engineering
Dr. .Vannucci is a veteran of almost 30 years of research and development in wireless communicatons, most recently as a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories. Previously, as a lead scientist at Bell Laboratories for more than 20 years, his projects included development lead for "Assisted GPS" products for Lucent Technologies. Dr. Vannucci's expertise includes RF radio systems, geolocation, circuit design, quantum electrodytnamics, DSP techniques, among many other areas. He has been a member IEEE standards task forces, and was particularly instrumental in producing the IS-801 and IS-817 standards. In 2000 Dr. Vannucci was asked to create a branch of Bell Laboratories in Italy, where he was Managing Director. He has a Ph.D. and M. Phil. In Electrical Engineering, and a MA in Physics, all from Columbia University.
